Thankyou for sending the results and for helping organise the competition. I know how much work you did for me alone. with lots of email correspondance with each participant.

It should not have cost you any money its a shame that it has and hope that Himal Tourist board will reimburse you.

Xavier also did a very good job setting the tasks and organising the pilots for the competition.

Himal Pradesh Touris board also did a great job organising all the food, transport and accomodation. It is a shame that disagreements arose due to stopping the free flying during the competition. This led to animosity and a feeling of them and us rather than all working together for the same ends.

I think for next time it is important for a member of the tourist board to work closer with the competition committee so that information about transport etc can be easily passed onto the pilots.

I also think that Himal Pradesh Tourist board have to realise how much work and Time Adie and Xavier have put in in organising with all the pilots and that they need to pay them properly or at the minimum to pay the travel and expenses if they hope for them to run the event again.

Both parties need to appreciate the work that each one has put in to make the event a success.

I really enjoyed my time in India and hope to be back. I will only come back if its Pilots who are organising the competition and feel that the Himal Touerist board has to consult more with the competitions committee in order to build a strong and long lasting relationship. And enable India to run a world class competition.

The overall results look fine. If possible can you send me the daily results, the ones you were posting during the comp?

I had a great time at the competition. In my opinion the technical aspects of the comp were handled very professionally. Xavier gave comprehensive and informative briefings. The tasks were appropriately set for the conditions on the day and provided safe and enjoyable flying for all competitors. All matters relating to the GPS; uploading of waypoints, production of maps, downloading and marking of tracks, and production of results were very well managed by Adie. One of the main attractions of this competition was the friendly, knowledgeable, and competent assistance provided by Xavier, Adie and Gupreet. For the future of competitions in Bir/Billing, I hope you can keep this strong team together.

I have never seen such a crazy amount of red tape, wasted funds, and
interference in a pilot's competition by people who know nothing about
the
sport. I was particularly shocked by the deputy tourism minister
thanking
everybody and their dog EXCEPT for you and Xavier!
I suggest they send a representative to a PWC event and see how they
are
usually organised!

A small request- can you also send me the results for the last task. As
it was
only my 2nd time in goal, I'd like to see how I did!

I had not occasion to thank You for this Pre PWCA. It was fantastic place, people, flying and parties. I'm glad that I could participate in that kind of event.
I'm sorry for my friend Arek. He's very nervous and was very tired after Delhi and long trip.

Now we understand how India and indians work:-)

What about the results? Can I ask you to send me it via email??

Thank You for the results. I wish also to express my thanks to you and Gurpreet for your many efforts; Everything you guys managed worked without a problem: the briefings were perfect, the tasks were well set, and the correct results were posted every day. The only aspects of the competition that did not run well were those that were not in your hands! These being emergency and rescue staff. These were not on our frequency. Thank God we had pilots who landed to assist! If left only to Himachal Tourism there may have been a dead pilot. The other item was the retrieves. This also did not work as promised. There were no retrieves! None of the drivers had radio, no one was on the course to pick up down pilots. Everyone was on their own. Fortunately the friendly local people and inventive pilots always found a solution.

I recommend that you and Gurpreet be enabled to organize ALL ASPECTS of further comlpetions in the area. Dividing up responsibilities between the pilot organisation and the department of tourism does not work. Furthermore, the department of tourism obviously has not a good idea of what the sport is all about and what is needed to run a successful competition.

I find it also a real pity that you have to pay expenses out of pocket, for example the Comp GPS software and the tape for the glider numbers.

Department of Tourism should be responsible for food and lodging, opening and closing ceremony and promoting paragliding toursim in the area, but they should NOT be involved in the competition per se, and certainly not in critical issues such as rescue or retrieves.

Thank You again Xavier, Adie and Gurpreet, and all local pilots especially Jyoti and Debu for a wonderful atmosphere and warm reception to their beautful part of the world;

Thanks for everything Adie, just a line too let you know how much all your efforts were appreciated by all the pilots I spoke too, without the help from yourself and gupreet and all the efforts you put in before and during the comp a] I would not have gone in the first place and b] would not have felt so at ease during my stay[I have had no reply emails to any of the questions I asked the tourist board it was only your replies that gave me the confidence to book the flights and get out to India], you have an amazing country, it’s a shame the officials and politicians have too get so involved at all the wrong levels,
Hope you were not to put off by the problems during the comp it would be a great shame if this event did not materialize as a PWC event due to the involvement of people with the wrong agendas. I have been very involved in raising the profile of paragliding in the Scottish boarders where we were sponsored by the local tourist board the difference being they wrote us a cheque and said get on with it!

Hi Adie,

The competition was extremely well run by you guys - yourself, Gurpreet
& Xavier. Scoring & task setting was 'spot-on'. It is appalling that
you
have not been reimbursed for the costs of the compegps licence & glider
tape.
The failures on all accounts were from Himachal Tourism.
Retrieve was a joke on the day I didn't make it back to goal -
thankfully that was only 1 day. The free-flight ban was ludicrous.
Not providing accommodation for the practice days & evicting people
from
the tents in the morning after the comp was unecessary. We would have
been prepared to pay a reasonable amount to stay these extra days.
I think all the pilots are very happy with all your work......the
bureaucracy let down the entire event & that was out of your control.
