A bit about the author

the discussion:

The proposal:

lets make a small club (to begin with) named something like : paraglider pilot club of india (suggestions welcome)

objective should be:
1> to give us some leverage as group of pilots rather than just indevidual pilots.
2> we can within club form an assesment system that is at par with international standards (those who think indian pilots can not qualify to those satandards need not join..only those willing to meet the challange)
3> we can liason with associations with more experience and bring standardised training programmes and other commercial aspects of paragliding like tandem flying and guiding.

we can liason with state govts and at centre too so that rules formed are logical and upto international norms.

in genral we need to get together and raise the levels, show that it can be done and done well (in india too).

All pilots on this cc list can check and see if i missed some pilot and send this mail to them too. no attempt has been made to exclude anyone, these were pilots on my mailing list.

as first step: suggestions on name of this club are welcome.
secondly we will go over basic structure and mode of electing representetives (all will be democratic with direct voting through secure website)

i can shoulder the resposebility of making website if most ppl agree. i will need voulenteer to help registring this club..any lawyers in pilot list:) but we need to agree on basic structure before that.

I will appriciate if discussion on this are kept to constructive only, all those who dont find this idea appealing please drop me a mail asking to be removed of this mailing list.

happy landings

4.Hi Gurpreet,

At the outset, I appreciate your sincerity of purpose. It is a good idea to organise and work together for the good of the sport and the pilots.

I am aware that some pilots in India have already formed informal clubs, groups etc. There are many who operate on their own. We also have a National Aero Club which is the representative body FAI. As you know, Rajan Juvekar and Roshan Lal Thakur are the pioneers of this sport in this country. Their mature views on the matter will be very valuable.

I eagerly await honest openions of the other pilots whom you have addresed.

Regards & best wishes,
Palat

6.Dear Gurpreet,

I'm in South Africa at the moment, having left the IAF in end Aug and have joined a company called Blue Dart operating Boeing 737s out of Chennai. I'll be in touch as soon as I get back to India. We are here for simulator training on the aircraft and will finish by month end.

I greatly admire your enterprise and can-do spirit. Please let me know if there's any help I can give, maybe like revising charters, documentation or any other thing you can think of. I will be glad to help in any way I can. I'll be really glad if you pull this off, as I found that the Governmen't heavy hand is the worst obstacle for the sport. Unfortunately, India has this basic hang up, which is so difficult to understand and even more difficult to tackle. South Africa, on the other hand is such a free country... made for people like you. Anyway, no point feeling bad about this situation, at least you will be able to make a beginning.

All the very best, and do let me know what develops. I'd love it if you forward the views of people to me, so at least I can be informed.

Regards,

Arvind Oak

Dear Gurpreet

Pleas include me in your mailing list. It is an
excellent idea and I support you fully on the
endeavour.

Some subscription amount should be decided by the club
for being member to start with.

Keep me posted

Regards.

9.besides this debu, vinay and Sanjay pendurkar had verbally agreed to te idea.

10. Hi Gurpreet

You are doing good job. But I think before we form a National association, all pilots have to form

state associations in thier respective state. Then through these state association we can form National association. This is how Indian sports system works.

11 Hi roshan !
I am reallyhappy to see a contribution from you roshan ji and i assure u its appriciated and very welcome. I totally agree with you on this but idea here is not a national association to begin with, just a club of pilots and a common lobby/ platform. Ofcourse we should make local clubs and state associations too.

Going by your suggestion i will contribute by organising an association in punjab and a local club in Bir by spring. I hope we get same initiative from pilots in other places.

Main reason for this club is to have a common voice .. membership to this club will not exclude anyone of becoming member to other local or national association.

i hope u understand what i am saying and know why its needed.
